APC welcomes 250 Haas students for Cohort Day 2016!

We’re proud that this year UC Berkeley’s Haas Cohort day at APC is a twelve year tradition! Every year in August, for the past twelve years, Haas’s incoming first year class spends an afternoon volunteering their time at Alameda Point Collaborative. The student volunteers have been able to throw their efforts into an array of projects, including playground maintenance for the kids, work in our social enterprises, Farm2Market and Ploughshares Nursery, and also light painting projects. APC celebrates several programs with a cook out

Under the beautiful July sunshine and amidst peals of laughter and funky beats, the Alameda Point Collaborative community enjoyed a day full of summer fun! Our celebration included delicious BBQ, an all kids talent show that featured some amazing singing and dancing, and of course a chef-off using farm fresh vegetables from our urban farm. APC has a new free meal program!

Exciting news! This summer AUSD has sponsored a free meal program. Kids and teens from the Alameda community are welcomed to come to 677 West Ranger Ave to pick up a meal. We’ll be serving breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday. Breakfast starts at 9:00 am and ends at 10:00 am. Lunch begins at 11:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm. Hope to see you there! Girls of summer: Students complete APC internships

For students eager to keep their skills sharp, expand their networks and learn new things, summer has traditionally been internship season.  APC Career Center staff was pleased to be able to offer just this kind of summer learning experience for two APC teens this summer. Millawn Oliver, a rising senior,  and Joy Collins, a rising junior, completed an eight week internship at the Career Center that not only helped them to learn valuable workplace skills, but also more about their own community and their roles as future leaders.
