APC celebrates several programs with a cook out

Under the beautiful July sunshine and amidst peals of laughter and funky beats, the Alameda Point Collaborative community enjoyed a day full of summer fun! Our celebration included delicious BBQ, an all kids talent show that featured some amazing singing and dancing, and of course a chef-off using farm fresh vegetables from our urban farm. APC looks to the future

Alameda Point is at a significant crossroads, and so is the Alameda Point Collaborative. APC was established in 1999 through a special federal homeless accommodation process. Over the last decade-and-a-half, we have been successfully working to end homelessness by providing housing and services to create a community where formerly homeless families and individuals can flourish. At any given time, we are serving almost 500 individuals, including almost 300 children and youth. Continue reading “APC looks to the future”

APC celebrates opening of new education center

In 2015, the APC Children & Youth Services’ Education Center which provides after-school programming, is no longer a one-room schoolhouse! Education Center staff hosted a grand opening celebration of their new and spacious home on January 14, 2015 for APC families and community supporters. In lieu of cutting a ribbon, the children christened their new space with a scavenger hunt and a piñata. Continue reading “APC celebrates opening of new education center”

APC kids are equipped 4 success

It’s that time of year again! The leaves start to turn gold and brown, there’s a nice breeze out and parents are rejoicing while children…are maybe not as excited as their parents. It’s back-to- school time and that means new teachers, new lessons and school gear.  Of course, that also means it’s time for the annual, Equipped 4 Success, school supply drive.
