SUMMARY:#GivingTuesday
DESCRIPTION:Alameda Point Collaborative is raising $10K this #GivingTuesday to aid in our efforts to end homelessness. This year\, we will be sharing photographs and stories of our residents\, to detail the impact APC has had on their lives. We challenge YOU to join us in supporting the fight to end homelessness! Your contribution will make an impact\, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. I’ve included information about Alameda Point Collaborative below. \nAPC’s mission is working to end homelessness and its symptoms by providing permanent housing and supportive services to create communities where formerly homeless families and individuals can flourish. To be housed at APC\, residents must be experiencing chronic homelessness at time of entry and\, at least one head of household must have a permanent disability (mental and/or physical). APC currently uses the decommissioned naval base to house a total of 500 residents. To help break the cycles and symptoms of homelessness for these residents\, APC uses supportive services with its permanent housing. These services range from literacy programming\, substance abuse counseling\, therapy\, case management\, children and youth programming\, adult programming\, and employment and education training.

SUMMARY:Native Plant Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Fall is the right time to install native plants in the garden. Native plants use less water and and support local ecologies of animals and insects we depend upon for a healthy environment and food production. Native plant gardens celebrate a unique California heritage featuring species which have histories of thousands of years of use by native people. Native plants are declining state-wide and you can participate in keeping awareness of this decline in the public eye by displaying native plants in your garden and discussing their essential roles with neighbors\, family and friends.
