Workforce Development

Employment is a key to breaking the vicious cycle of homelessness and poverty. Alameda Point Collaborative provides Education and Employment Services to its residents so they may attain self-sufficiency and improve their lives for generations.

APC’s Resource Center offers residents a variety of services, resources, and programs to help residents accomplish their educational dreams and aid in the quest and attainment of stable employment.

The Education and Employment center offers one-on-one assistance to residents. Our Services include, but are not limited to:

  • College Application Assistance

On-the-Job Training

APC’s On-the-Job Training Program assists residents in preparation to re-enter the workforce through part-time employment and focused coursework.

On-the-Job Training Program

  • Job Sites: APC’s Farm2Market, Ploughshares Nursery, Workforce Development Resource Center, APC’s K-5 Education Center, Teen Center, and the Fund Development and Community Outreach department
  • APC hosts 20 adults per year
  • 6 month cohort
  • 17 hours of paid, hands-on working experience and 3 hours of classroom work each week builds skills and confidence to enter the workforce
Summer Youth On-the-Job Training Program
  • Job Site: APC’s Farm2Market
  • APC hosts 10 youth ages 12-17 per summer
  • 10 week course, 18 working hours and 2 classroom hours

Workforce Development

Our Employment team takes a holistic approach to Workforce Development in considering our residents barriers to employment and overall needs. Our Employment team:
  • Creates partnerships with local employers
  • Makes inquiries to employers on behalf of residents
  • Supports residents in receiving employment and/or retaining employment
  • Host a variety of professional development classes for our residents
  • Hosts skilled volunteers to run workshops and classes
