Volunteer as an Urban Farmer to help contribute to the successful operations of our farm and the APC community. By weeding, planting, pruning, watering, and completing other essential duties, volunteers provide much needed support to the farm staff so they can focus on harvesting and other farm operations.
Volunteer Hours:
Do you enjoy working with young people? Volunteers in our education center or teen center can help enrich our children’s lives. We request volunteers for tutoring or reading buddies to commit to at least 2 hours a week for 8 weeks . There are one-time and short-term projects that require a volunteer to help with or lead an activity or share a skill such as STEAM activities, cooking, theater, projects, etc.
Volunteers working with our youth must get fingerprinted for a background check and/or provide proof of completion of the AB506 online training for protecting youth.
Group volunteer projects take time to plan and resources to execute. APC suggests a minimum donation of $35 per volunteer for group projects. Corporate groups and teams with a larger budget can help accomplish transformative service with a larger gift or grant to support our work. Many companies pay for employees to volunteer, check with your employer to see if yours does.
If you have any questions about volunteering or to schedule a group volunteer project, please contact Malone Maier at jmaier@apcollaborative.org or call 510-898-7802
