There are 1,000 children in Alameda who need your help to start the school year off on the right foot. I am writing in hopes that you will support Alameda Point Collaborative, and our community partners, in making the second annual Equipped 4 Success school supply drive a winner for our kids.
Equipped 4 Success is sponsored by the Alameda Education Foundation, Alameda Unified School District, Alameda Point Collaborative, Alameda Boys & Girls Club, Head Start, Girls Inc., and the Alameda Collaborative for Children, Youth and Families.
Our goal is to collect supplies and funds to support 1,000 low-income students in Alameda, kindergarten through twelfth grade, with backpacks filled with everything they will need to fully participate in the classroom.
Research shows that the average family spends $100 per year on school supplies alone. With family budgets already stretched thin, families overcoming the trauma of homelessness often lack the resources buy supplies, putting their children at risk of falling further behind their more affluent peers. Together we can ensure that a lack of pencils, pens or paper does not stand in the way of any Alameda child’s education.
Supporting Equipped 4 Success is easy. Join us at one of the Summer Beats concerts at South Shore Center or drop-off supplies at one of many donation spots around town. A full list of concert dates, donation drop-off sites, as well as accepted schools supplies follows below.
If you don’t have time to shop, a financial contribution may be made via the Alameda Education Foundation online or by check to Alameda Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1363, Alameda, CA 94501. Please designate your gift to Equipped 4 Success.
